Paranormal Mysteries: Mysterious Human Skeletons, From 9 ft. Giants To Tiny Mummies

Paranormal mysteries abound through out the world and in every culture, some important to the evolution of society and some not so. But not all mysteries can be solved and most times are left to us to ponder curiously over the debate of origin or importance of such a discovery. Several human remains, or human-like remains , including puzzling specimens of skulls and skeletons have been found through out the ages that have left society and scientists alike questioning the history of human evolution. Whether you believe that humans are the descendents of Adam and Eve, the result of millions of years of evolution or the genetic creations of a distant alien race, these strange skeletons can truly make one wonder about our past. Was man the first intelligent species to walk the earth or have their been others here before us?

Following are some of the most intriguing cases to date.

In 2004 on the remote island of Indonesia scientist were stunned by the discovery of abnormally small adult human skeletons that stood only about 3- 3 1/2 ft tall. The skeletons were the size of a modern 3 year old with heads no bigger than a grapefruit and were thought to be those belonging to an ancient race of people once native to that isolated area. Small in stature , these pygmies were named Homo Floresiensis and nicknamed hobbits because of their unusually small size. Scientist were lead to believe that this diminutive race died out about 13,000 years ago but reports from local natives, received as recently as 2009, report eye witness accounts of a tiny race of people currently living in isolated parts of the Indonesian jungle.

In the early 1800's in the town of Sayre in Bradford County, Pennsylvania an excavation of ancient burial mounds gave way to an amazing discovery. Buried deep below the ancient mounds archeologist unearthed human skeletons measuring approxiamately 7 feet in lenght. Although the height of these skeletons were remarkable, the more notable features of these tall skeletons were not their height, but the strange 3" horn-like potrusions above the brow region on their skulls! At the time, it was estimated that these human-like beings walked the earth around 1200 AD. Unfortunantly, according to some sources, the skeletons were sent to the American Investigating Museum in Philadelphia for analysis and vanished.

In Brewersville, Indiana in 1879 yet another enormous skeleton was found. According to the The Indianapolis News (1975 edition) the giant skeleton stood 9 feet 8 inches tall! This time the skeleton was actually examined and documented by scientists from Indiana and New YorK. The skeleton was then transfered back into the possesion of Mr. Robinson who owned the land on which the burial mound stood. However, as one is to suspect, in a series of unfortunate events, a flood that occured in 1937 demoloished Mr. Robinsons house and washed away the unusual bones.

This strange and elongated skull is estimated to be tens of thousands of years old and was found in South America. Obviously human with unatural abnormalities the skull exhibits characteristics of both human and Neanderthal skulls. There wouldn't be much to this skull if it were not for the fact that Neanderthals never existed in South America. So how did the skull arrive here? Scientists aren't sure. The only explanation they have for the abnormally elongated skull is that the primitive race of people it belonged to used an ancient practice known as "skull binding". "skull binding" ,in which a person's head is tightly bound with cloth or leather straps throughout his/her lifetime, was used as a religious practice. Causing the skull to grow in this dramatic way was thought to appease and honor one's god.

The Journal of Nature reported the discovery of a giant man buried 14 feet within the center of one of Ohio's mysterious burial mounds in December of 1971. "The enormous man’s arms, jaw, chest and stomach were all clad in copper. Wooden antlers, also covered with copper, rested on either side of his head. His mouth was filled with large pearls, and a pearl-studded necklace of bear teeth hung around his neck." (Steven Wagner, 2009) Where this man came from and to what race of people he belonged to is still a mystery.

Interesting enough, scientist discovered yet another set of skeletons,7 to be exact, in the United States in 1888 in a burial mound near Clearwater, Minnesota. The skeletons had been placed in a sitting position and the unusuall skulls that accompianied them were found to have double rows of teeth in both the upper and lower jaws. Scientist also noted that the foreheads were low and sloping and had distinctly prominent brows unlike normal human skulls.

One of the most famous discoveries made took place in 1932 in the canyons of the Pedro Mountains, about 60 miles SW of Casper Wyoming. After gold prospectors dynamited through the canyons of the Pedro Mountains they discovered a completly mummified middle aged man sitting cross-legged on a ledge. More astonishing was the fact that the mummy appeared to be only 14 inches tall! Pedro, as he has been nicknamed, appeared to be in his 40's but scientists speculate that he was not actually an adult at all but an infant or small fetus that might have been afflicted with the disease anencephaly. Was this the case or is he possibly a completly different specimen of being? More Improtantly, how did he get there and why?

In 1930 an unusual skull was reportedly found in an abandoned mine tunnel in the Copper Canyon region about 100 miles SW of Chihuahua, Mexico. The skull was sent back to the United States for analysis. Once back in the states Loyed Pye, researcher and analyst, had taken it upon himself to discover the identity of the unusual skull he named "The Starchild Skull". The skull is unusually wide at the back and exhibits larger than normal eye sockets. Although the origin of the skull is uncertian it is speculated that it could possibly be a skull of alien-human origin or at least one belonging to an human-alien hybrid. In 1999 the skull was subjected to DNA testing for difinitive proof. Although the results of the test indicated that the skull contained DNA from a human being there were also strands of DNA that did not match that of a humans and was of no known origin. So the question, much like the skull itself, remains a mystery.

In 1911, 22 miles southwest of Lovelock, Neveda, after digging out layers of guano from a cave, miners happened upon the mummified remains of a 6 1/2 foot giant. It could have possibly been a tall Native American if it weren't for the crown of distinclty red hair that was still embedded within its skull. "Amazingly, the ancient legends of the local Paiute Indians described a race of red-haired giants – called Si-te-cahs – who were the enemies of many Indian tribes of the region. " Perhaps....

This skull, deemed the Fat Head skull because of its abnormally large cranium, was first photographed by Robert Connelly. However, the age, date and origins of the skull are unknown. At first glance the skull appears to be that of a human. However, the extraordinarily large cranium and eye sockets, which are 15% larger than the average humans, have lead reserachers to believe other wise. Althought the alien/human hybrid theory is up for debate researchers have yet to determine if the skull is in fact a genetic mutation or some unknown species of creature.
